Surprising Animal Behaviors
Which unusual tactic do sea otters employ to keep themselves from drifting away from their family or friends while they snooze in the ocean?
Correct
These adorable fur-balls hold hands while napping to stay close to their raft, and if they are worried about floating off into the deep blue, they simply wrap themselves in kelp like a cozy burrito. The idea of using their tails as ropes is purely a cartoon fantasy, as they lack the dexterity to tie knots. Digging claws into the ocean floor is far too much work for a relaxing nap, and while sea life is slimy, they do not produce a special glue to stick themselves together.
